Tiny Child in a manger
Nestled in a bed of straw
Silent, hidden, our dear Shepherd
As a lamb you came for all.
Helpless
Sleeping
King of all.
With little hands you touch me
Your cries call out my name
My spirit burns within me
With the angels I adore.
God
Majestic
Least of all.
You summon me from Egypt
From the weight of all my sins
You set me on you shoulders
My poor soul you enter in.
Gift
Triumphant
Lord of all.
Someday we will see your glory
But today it’s hidden well
One day soon your cross will lift you
God and man you’ll save us all.
Love
Undaunted
Life for all.
But tonight you nestle sweetly
Tucked within your mother’s arms
Glimpsed by shepherds, warmed by cattle
Safe from every harm.
Peaceful
Humble
One with all.
Jesus, make my heart your manger
Let it be your place of rest
Strong, yet tender, just like Mary
Til the moment of my death. Amen.
